Mega Man X Character Model
Custom Animations
Mechanics Comparison - Buster
Mechanics Comparison - Wall Jump and Slide
Mechanics Comparison - Dash and Dash Jump
In my effort to teach myself some Unreal Engine skills I decided that I would remake the first stage of the SNES classic Mega Man X as a modern first person shooter game. This is my progress so far.
I created some concept art to get an idea for what I wanted the the final look and feel to be. After that I created a Megaman X character model and rigged and exported the to Unreal Engine and started putting the rough movement, shooting, dashing, and wall jump mechanics together via blueprint with the goal of staying as true to the original as possible while still interpreting them in a way that is both fun and makes sense in the now 3D world, (all node basedso far, no coding). As I developed and refined the mechanics I also created and adjusted animations for the character mesh that would work with the mechanics.
Update 1: Nov 2023 - I have further refined the mechanics I initially programmed, implemented several 3D meshes that I created, and have been focusing on asset creation in my spare time for the last few months of working on the project. I have now created several enemy character models, including UV maps, basic textures, rigs,, and animations and have been streaming much of the process youtube, ( https://www.youtube.com/@danielbrunoart ). I am planning on working on basic enemy AI and damage processing next.
